About
About Me

Welcome to the world of Elaine Watters Art, a place where colour, light, and emotion come together through expressive, intuitive painting. My creative journey has taken many forms over the years, but art has always been at the heart of who I am.

Based in Dublin, Ireland, I am continually inspired by the ever changing beauty of the Irish landscape, shifting skies, wild coastlines, gardens, and those fleeting moments of ethereal light found in nature. Although creativity has shaped much of my life for over four decades, my journey as a professional artist evolved naturally, becoming a deeply meaningful and fulfilling path.

My creative path has been shaped by both experience and study. Alongside a background in pharmaceutical business strategy and marketing, I have studied fine art, sculpture, ceramics, commercial photography, and interior design, disciplines that continue to influence the way I see colour, texture, composition, and space. Yet art itself always remained present, quietly calling me back.
During the pandemic, long walks in the Phoenix Park became a source of comfort and inspiration, gently drawing me back to painting in a more meaningful way. What began as a personal creative refuge soon evolved unexpectedly when a simple garden exhibition for friends during lockdown sparked an overwhelming response and quietly launched my art career. What had long been a lifelong passion became an essential part of how I experience and interpret the world.

My work is created intuitively, often unfolding in unexpected ways. Working with watercolour, acrylics, mixed media, and expressive alcohol inks, I am drawn to the interplay of colour, movement, texture, and light. I rarely begin with a fixed destination. Instead, each piece emerges organically, revealing its own story through layers, spontaneity, and emotion.

For me, painting is both sanctuary and exploration, a moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect with beauty. It is in the unpredictable nature of the process that I find the greatest joy, those unexpected marks and luminous moments that cannot be planned, only discovered.
Alongside creating original artwork, I also enjoy sharing the creative process through art workshops, encouraging others to explore their own artistic voice with confidence, curiosity, and freedom.

Whether through original paintings, fine art prints, or thoughtfully designed 100% silk collections inspired by my artwork, my hope is to create pieces that bring a sense of calm, wonder, and connection into everyday spaces and unique 'wearable art'.
I believe it is never too late to embrace creativity, begin something new, or follow what inspires you. Sometimes the most meaningful journeys begin with a single, uncertain step.

I am a versatile artist and enjoy working in a range of media from alcohol inks, watercolours, pen and ink architectural drawings, acrylics, oils and mixed media incorporating collage and stencilling. I also have a keen interest in photography and interior design and I use my qualifications in both to create and paint local Irish landscapes and architecture, with a contemporary and unique perspective.
In recent years I have been collaborating with Interior Designers and Hotels to create bespoke collections, incorporating my work in Irish Interiors.
